Portugal has opened leisure travel to UK travellers, so will this be the first river cruise destination available? Cruise fans who are keen to get back on the water, might find river cruising in Portugal a good option. We are now waiting for UK travellers get the green light for non-essential travel.

There are several English language cruises scheduled through late summer and autumn 2020. The 8-day round trip cruises from Porto. One of the big draws is the picturesque UNESCO World Heritage Douro Valley. The scenery is characterised by steep slopes and stunning wine terraces.
I took a river cruise through the Wachau Valley in Austria, which has some equally beautiful views. We were able to sit in the hot tub on the sun deck and enjoy the scenery go by.
Social distancing ships
Until further notice, nicko cruises’ boutique riverboats will be specially adapted to allow for social distancing.
