Holiday to Help Out Scheme

A new scheme to support the UK travel industry called ‘Holiday to Help Out‘ is set to take place from 2 to 8 November 2020. The scheme is the brainchild of TTG, created to help support travel agents during the pandemic.

Abta warned in August that 90,000 jobs in the outbound travel sector have already been lost or are at risk. 96% of Abta members said a second economic shutdown would have a serious or critical impact on their ability to survive.

Holiday to Help Out will offers special offers on cruises booked through travel agents during the week in November. Many companies have already signed up to the initiative that hopes to give a boost to the travel industry. Since March, travel restrictions and no sail orders have taken their toll on travel agents. I have felt devastated for those directly involved.

“This industry has consistently been let down by the powers that be in Westminster so we decided to take matters into our own hands to shine some positivity on travel and try and kick-start the market by driving customers through agents’ doors.

Sophie Griffiths, editor of TTG

Holiday To Help Out is part of the wider industry #SaveTravel campaign.

Holiday Suppliers

There are a number of suppliers that have already signed up to the scheme including cruise companies. You can expect cruise deals from:

  • A Rosa
  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Emerald Waterways
  • Scenic
  • Celestyal Cruises
  • Arena River Cruises
  • Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines
  • G Adventures
  • Riviera Travel
  • Uniworld
  • Virgin Voyages

The scheme has seen positive support from industry leaders, including Jo Rzymowska from Celebrity Cruises.

“Holiday to Help Out campaign is testament to its solidarity, not only aiming to boost sales across the sector but also offering travellers an array of exclusive offers at a time they need it most. At Celebrity Cruises, we are proud to be part of the campaign to offer memory-making luxury holidays at sea.”

Jo Rzymowska, vice president and managing director EMEA, Celebrity Cruises

How to Holiday to Help Out

To take advantage of the special offers, book your holiday with one of the travel agents that has signed up. The campaign is designed to drive business to local travel agency businesses who’ve found it hard during the crisis.

TTG has made it easy to support your local travel agent with the ability to search for a travel agent on the website.

You need only to quote the holiday company name and the Holiday To Help Out offer when booking with their agent. Agents will be promoting these offers across all their platforms – just look out for the logo.

The idea is to drive as many bookings as possible during that week through travel agents.

I’m looking forward to finding out more about the cruise deals available. I’d definitely like to book a Celebrity cruise following my tour of Celebrity Edge during the 2019 CLIA Conference. I’m also keen to see what the river cruise companies have to offer.
