P&O Cruises has announced the name of it’s newest cruise ship, which will join the fleet in December 2022.
Arvia, meaning “from the seashore” is the sister ship to Iona and will be the second LNG-powered Excel class cruise ship in the P&O fleet.

“Arvia will join Iona as an innovative and future-focused ship offering an outstanding, varied and contemporary holiday. Arvia has been designed to travel to the sun year-round and to maximise views of the ocean and the seashore from everywhere on board, so it seemed a very fitting name and one which will reflect the experience for guests on board.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow
The cruise line’s president also suggested that Arvia would include a number of new features.
The name of the 184,700 tonnes ship was unveiled through a video reveal made up of outlining the letters in the name in various different locations, all relating to the beach and the seashore.
2022 cruises on Arvia will be on sale from March 2021.
I correctly predicted the new name after looking through the trade marks registered by Carnival PLC. Other names registered included Sirona and Coronia but were probably scrapped following the Coronavirus pandemic.
You will find further details of the ship, its design and experiences on board on Cruise Lifestyle over the coming months.
