Princess Cruises is officially the first to offer real gelato outside of Italy! In this short post I share key information about Princess Cruises Gelato.
Where is the Gelato Shop on Princess Cruises?
The Gelato Shop can be found onboard Sky Princess, Enchanted Princess and Discovery Princess on Deck 5 in the Piazza (atrium).
Ospitalità Italiana
The Gelato on Princess Cruises has been designated as ‘Ospitalità Italiana’. This means that the three Princess ships are the first and only locations to offer an authentic Italian gelato experience outside of Italy.

The prestigious Ospitalità Italiana designation is issued by the Italian Chamber of Commerce committee and confirms that every step of the gelato-making process meets or exceeds a strict set of standards. These standards are approved by official Italian auditors and experts, who review the process on a yearly basis. Only gelato shops that attain outstanding quality status are awarded the official Ospitalità Italiana certification.
Princess Cruises Gelato
Princess Cruises handcrafts its fresh gelato with Italian-certified ingredients and equipment each day in the pastry kitchens onboard the cruise line’s three newest ships.
Corporate pastry chef Eric Le Rouzic trained with the best Italian chefs at the Gelato Carpigiani University in Bologna and the Gelato Comprital Atheneum in Milano to master the art of making gelato.
Princess uses top-of-line machines by renowned manufacturer Carpigiani and the gelato display cases were produced in Italy by expert craftsmen.

1 scoop + topping | $1.50 |
2 scoops + topping | $2.50 |
3 scoops + topping | $3.50 |
The Gelato is not included in any of the beverage packages available with Princess Cruises. I’d recommend reading my in-depth look at what is included in the drinks packages on Princess Cruises.
Final Thoughts
I tried the gelato on Sky Princess and have to say it was pretty delicious. I was very surprised that the price was not higher and so decided to have two flavours: Tiramisu and Strawberry Sorbet.
The flavours are all very appealing and I was pleased to see that sugar-free and dairy-free options were available.
If you are planning a cruise on Sky, Enchanted or Discovery Princess, it’s definitely worth trying.
