Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar Menu on Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises’ Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar, is a casual dining venue on several Princess cruise ships (Royal-class). In this post, we share the Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar menu and explain the prix fixe menu.

This dining venue is referred to in a number of different ways: Ocean Terrace Bar, Ocean Terrace Sushi, Ocean Terrace Seafood, Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar, Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar. On the deck plans these variations all refer to this same dining venue.

Which Princess ships have the Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar?

The Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar can be found on the following Princess Cruises ships:

This dining venue is located on one of the upper decks in the Piazza (atrium). This provides some great views of the Piazza and is perfect for people watching.

Ambience

Due to it’s location, you get the chance to enjoy the music and entertainment in the Piazza while you dine. We liked visiting the Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar in the early evening because there was some background music from the atrium that added to the atmosphere.

This venue is quite small and we think this is because it’s not the most popular of the casual dining options onboard.

For an added experience, we would recommend choosing a seat at the actual sushi bar so you can watch the chefs prepare your dishes right in front of you.

How much is the Ocean Terrace Bar on Princess Cruises?

You can choose to dine in two ways at this sushi bar: al a carte or the prix fixe menu.

All menu items are priced individually from $3 to $14. You can choose anything from the menu and pay for each individual item.

Alternatively, you can choose the new prix fixe menu ($14.99 per person) which includes:

  • 1 x appetizer
  • 1 x nigiri or sashimi
  • 2 x maki rolls

If you have paid for the Princess Plus package, you can visit two casual dining restaurants per cruise.

If you have paid for the Princess Premier package, you have unlimited visits to casual dining throughout your cruise.

The Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar is a casual dining restaurant you can choose to use these packages with.

It’s important to know that all passengers can still dine at Ocean Terrace, despite the changes that Princess Cruises made to casual dining.

If you do not have a package and have paid for the standard Princess Cruises fare, you can still choose the prix fixe menu and simply pay $14.99 per person or al a carte.

Personally, we have only dined al a carte at this restaurant so far but definitely see the value in choosing the prix fixe option and adding any additional dishes we want to try.

Tip for dining at Ocean Terrace Sushi: If you have the Princess Plus package with two casual dining visits per cruise, you can double the number of visits by ordering for one person and sharing between two. This is particularly useful for light lunches.

Booking a Table at the Ocean Terrace Bar on Princess Cruises

You don’t need to book a table at the Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar in advance. This restaurant rarely gets busy but be aware it’s likely to become busier towards the end of your cruise when people are using up their casual dining visits.

All you have to do is turn up and wait to be seated.

This option is really good for lunch. Portion sizes are not huge so it’s also great if you want a light dinner.

Opening times vary slightly from ship to ship but it’s generally open from 11.30am to 2.00pm / 5.30pm to 9.00pm daily.

If you fancy a low key dinner with some background music from the Piazza, this is definitely a good option.

We’ve eaten at the Ocean Terrace on a couple of cruises and we’ve almost had the place to ourselves.

Overall Thoughts on Ocean Terrace Sushi on Princess Cruises

The Ocean Terrace Bar is a good casual dining option on selected Princess cruise ships. If you enjoy sushi, you should try to eat here at least once on your cruise.

The menu is compact but this tends to be the case for sushi restaurants whether at sea or on land.

Although we love sushi, we know it isn’t to everyone’s taste so you can expect it to be a generally quieter venue compared to other options, like Alfredo’s Pizzeria.

Overall this is not our favourite sushi restaurant on a cruise.

Here’s what cruisers on Cruise Critic thought about the Ocean Terrace Sushi Bar:

“It is a nice venue, and it does seem to fill up.”

“…the Sushi is great, though I seem to remember the menu is a bit limited; what they did serve was excellent. The service was very attentive…”

“It’s fun to go there occasionally for a mid evening snack while listening to the live music in the Piazza.”

“…it’s a limited menu, but I’ll go again – it’s a nice change from the other options, especially during lunch.”

“The fish was not fresh and the rice was not cooked properly. I imagine the quality can vary tremendously based on the quality of the seafood they receive and whether the staff making the rice actually know how to make proper sushi rice but Ocean Terrace was a miss for me.”

If you love sushi and sashimi, we’d recommend also checking out our review of another sushi restaurant we enjoyed on a cruise sushi on Royal Caribbean, which includes Izumi menu with photos and a review.
